Identifying risk factors of young people becoming Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) in the Connected Bradford dataset, CY P06 23 06 NEET

Lay Summary

Previous research from the Born in Bradford team (Atkinson et al, 2022) has indicated that early academic attainment metrics, namely the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile (EYFSP), can be used to predict later academic attainment and those at risk of requiring SEN support. We wish to understand whether the same early indicator can be used to predict later Not in Employment, Education, or Training (NEET) status. Previous work (Gladwell et al. 2022) has indicated that academic attainment from Key Stage 2 onwards propagates through the rest of the education system to eventually influence NEET chances, so understanding whether an earlier time point does could influence interventions designed to reduce the risk.
