What is a Secure Data Environment?

NHS data goes beyond patient care – it is vital for advancing medical research and enhancing services to improve healthcare outcomes.

A Secure Data Environment is a place that allows approved researchers to safely access de-identified health and care records for a specific project and purpose. Data access is tightly controlled, and record-level data cannot be removed.

About the NHS Research SDE Network

The Yorkshire & Humber is one of 11 regions to receive funds from NHS England to create a Secure Data Environment (SDE).

You can find out more about the Secure Data Environment Network which covers the whole of England on the NHS England website.
