Professor Tom Lawton

Professional Engagement Lead

Tom is a consultant in Critical Care and Anaesthetics at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Head of Clinical Analytics for the Improvement Academy, and Honorary Visiting Professor of Computer Science at the University of York.

Tom is a former computer programmer who studied Medicine and Philosophy at Clare College, Cambridge and Green College, Oxford before coming to Yorkshire to train in Critical Care and to undertake an MSc in Health Research at Leeds University. He still ends up programming and is keen on the open source software movement. He is a clinical innovator and has an interest in sports physiology (specifically long-distance triathlon), Artificial Intelligence and modelling/simulation.
