We’re looking for people aged 16 to 24 from Yorkshire and Humber to join our Young People’s Advisory Group and tell us what you think about health data and research.
It’s a great opportunity to find out more about health and care data, and to learn about careers in the NHS and research. You don’t need to have any qualifications or knowledge, just an interest in having your say about how data is collected and used.

The first thing to do is to complete this quick form by 7 June 2026 to tell us you’re interested! If we get loads of applications we might need to close a bit earlier, so it’s worth getting your application in as soon as possible if you can.
Once you’ve filled in your application then it’ll be automatically sent through to us. All the applications will be reviewed to see if people meet the area and age criteria. We will also create a short-list, based on your answers on the application form. We’ll then email you to let you know whether you’re being invited to take part in an informal chat over Zoom.
All Zoom chats will take place during the week of 8 June, at the latest. After the informal chat we’ll let you know whether you’ve been successful and about the next steps.
We want to hear what young people have to say about subjects like healthcare data and research in the NHS. Bringing interested people together in a group means we can have a good discussion about these subjects, and we can also answer questions that people have about how data is used.
The Yorkshire and Humber Secure Data Environment (SDE) has lots of ways for people of all ages to get involved, and this new young people’s group is part of that work.
Anyone between the ages of 16 and 24 from the Yorkshire and Humber region can join. That includes the whole of West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, Humberside, and North Lincolnshire. No, you don’t need any prior knowledge about data. We want to hear your opinions, whether you are already interested in this area or whether you’re coming to it new. Everybody’s voice is important!
No, you don’t need any particular qualifications or experience to join the group.
No, you need to have access to the appropriate equipment to join the online meetings. This might be a phone, laptop, tablet, or computer. If you don’t have any of these, you could ask to use computers at school, college, or in the library.
Most of the monthly meetings are online but sometimes it’s good to meet in person. If we do have an in person meeting that you attend, we can repay reasonable travel costs for you.
There are lots of things that you’ll get from joining our group: you’ll meet other young people, you’ll learn more about the NHS, about research, about data, and about how people’s voices are heard by big organisations. These are all things that can help you when you’re writing your CV or applying for jobs or college.
We also really value your time, so everyone who attends a session will be given a £30 voucher as a thank you for sharing your views with us.
