Respiratory syncytial virus is a common winter virus that can cause serious illness in young babies, especially those born prematurely. A new vaccine is now offered to pregnant women to protect their babies during the first months of life. However, it is not yet clear whether the vaccine works equally well in babies born early, or whether the timing of vaccination in pregnancy affects how well babies are protected. There is also limited information available to describe the uptake and timing of the vaccine and how this varies by demographic and clinical factors.

By developing advanced geospatial methods to understand crime around schools, the project will identify environmental conditions where risks may emerge and accumulate before escalating into more serious harm. This evidence will support earlier, preventative interventions and help policing, education, local authorities, and safeguarding partners better target resources and responses. It will also improve understanding of how crime and vulnerability are distributed across urban areas, contributing to safer communities and improved outcomes for children and young people.
